PLEAD FOR PLEATS

So basically, went to GoodWill last week, and got three things a dress, a skirt, and a bag, all three of which I plan on boring you with. But this post is purely dedicated to the skirt I got. Anyways, it's a pleated calf-length skirt with a polka dot print, and though mid-calf length is all the rage bla bleh bla...

it is not flattering.
Whatsoever.
At all.

So with my mind-blowing seamstress skillz I decided I would just alter it to a nice high waisted skirt, simples. It was pretty easy to sew, the only annoying bit being having to iron every single pleat back in, because the thread was quite stiff.
But that's pretty much the end of the saga, went to Target today and wore it out for the first time...

If I wasn't a WUSS, I would have worn it like this...

...but I am a WUSS, so I didn't. Perhaps next time. I srsly need to grow some balls, metaphorically, duh.
//LE FIN//

look forward to Parts 2 + 3 of this GoodWill saga...

MAN I FEEL LIKE A WOMAN

Just to clarify, I'm not a man...
But that doesn't mean I'm not considering this net-over-head-look, oh wait, it does.

RIP ME TO SHREDS

As I have already committed the crime of cliched blogger posts (I.E. shitty photo booth pictures, 'DIY' balmain jeans tutorial etc. etc.) I feel it's necessary to commit to the cause...
I got my shirt at Target. It's a 'tissue tee' which I think makes it easier to shred like this, I didn't shred it the whole way, just half-way down, and only on the back. I think I'll get the white long sleeve version of it and do the whole back of that one. Anyways, I'm sure there's an abundance of DIY how-to's on basically every single fashion blog out there, but to make a nice short and sweet one.

1. cut a hole (whatever size)
2. pull on the 'ladder' that will form to whatever length/extent desired.

The more important thing in doing this though, is not how you do it, but what t-shirt you're doing it to, I find that it's easier to do if the cotton is fairly stretchy, and relatively thin, I have wasted a lot of money on plain thick cotton t-shirts only for it not to work.

Anyways, got the new CoverGirl 'Lipstain' basically as soon as I got back to America. Got it in a dark berry colour, turns out more of a red though. I was a bit disappointed with it though, it was less of a stain and less watery than I expected, and more of an actual lipstick, it does last for a ridiculously long time though, so all is not lost...

GOTTA DANCE

Singin In the Rain is the only movie I have on my iPod, and as a result I've probably watched it just under ten times this year when I couldn't get to sleep. This is my favorite scene, mostly just cos it's COMPLETELY AMAZING but whatevz...

So bascially it's like the prettiest dance sequence in a movie ever, but like, no biggie. Anyways, I found the scene on YouTube but embedding is disabled so you lazy people are just gonna have to click. Soz for the extreme inconvenience.

P.S. Gene Kelly approves of this post :)

SOUTHERN BELLE//SOUTHERN BEAU

meh. meh. meh. OUTFIT POST, yay! (ignore the smug face in every single photo plz, k, thanx)

I'm not gonna lie though. (cos I'm such an honest person and would hate to hurt my readers like that, duh.) The belt, which is ridonkulously long, was giving me a bit of a situation that could theoretically be likened to a desert animal with two humps and interestingly two eyelids and knobby knees to help it in the sand... ANYWAYS, so I took it off. simples.

much better

Anyways, the whole outfit felt a bit masculine and tomboyish, and since I was kind of channelling the whole "I'M A REDNECK" in a not-so subtle way, I thought that some nice girly shoes would do the trick...

Alexa Chung approves. (it's her thumb, duh)

Got these beauties of a shoe in France this summer, and shall be dedicating an entire post to them later, because they're nice shoes, and nice shoes deserve a post all to themselves.

KNEES AND TOES, KNEES AND TOES

90's shorts + 60's Grateful Dead tee = summer
it's that simple

As much as I like them for their music (which in all honesty, I wasn't that familiar with till I bought the t-shirt, I confess, I'm a poser!) the artwork for their posters and albums is so rad! I'm pretty sure the artwork on this t-shirt is a poster, it's signed

'66 Bindweed Press, San Francisco

I'm thinking a fuller post of some more 60's/70's psychedelic artwork is due soon...

anyways...

P.S. For everyone that cares out their (I.E. MOTHER) I got my haircut really short. I had a bit of a nervous breakdown after a very unsuccessful "trim" at the hairdressers, it was more of a hack. So I just chopped it all off, aren't I such a wild/crazy/hormonal teenager? Don't answer that... Anyways, it was quite a while ago, like three months, I just haven't blogged for a while oooops. SOZBABEZZZ.

DREAMING OF ANOTHER GIRL WORLD

The new Mystery Jets album (Serotonin) is, ozzley, AMAZEBALLS. As cliched as it is, they really do just get better and better as they go on. Their new music video, is fittingly also AMAZEBALLS (I was bribed to write that word as many times as possible, swear).

And a song as sweet as this one necessitates an equal match for its music vid. Anyways, I'll stop fangirlin' now, and let the screenshots speak for themselves yo'

So basically the model is a B-A-B-E, but besides that, the video is actually really interesting, make of it what you will. I just loved the little details like playing suitcases as drums, and the Bonnie + Clyde-esque feeling when they're playing with their breakfast.

mmmmm nom nom.

I'll leave you with the video, just seemed like a kind thing to do, you know?
